a gardener's heaven

I saw a little piece of heaven today.  Thank you to my garden pal Sue for telling me about this event.  The gentleman that owns this garden came here from Italy with his brothers and they opened the Como Inn in Chicago.  When they sold that property he settled here with his partner.  His estate is now for sale as he is moving back to Italy.  Most of the items for sale are garden related.  Gorgeous Italian pots and tiles.  Art pieces and even plants. The garden is breath taking.  His use of grasses is stunning as are the large urns and pots that are nestled into the beds.

Enjoy...

I could spend every weekend visiting gardens like this one - I'd be a very happy lady! Did you find anything at the sale that you couldn't live without? I hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!!

  7. What a delicious garden! All so grown in and magnificent. How difficult it must be to leave such a piece of paradise ... I hope his home in Italy is just as lush. I'm going to show my son the koi pond ... we have shebunkins in his pond, but he's dying for some koi. This guy has such a large number! Were the koi for sale? I hope you brought home one of the urns with all their weathered beauty. So nice. Thanks for sharing this garden in photos with us Nicole. Wendy x

  13. Oh.. oh.. oh.. I don't know where to begin.. breathtaking, beautiful, certainly at least a tiny glimpse of heaven. I feel almost like crying, not just at the lushness of the flowers and sprawling greenery, but also the vast unblocked expanse of sky. In a tiny, overcrowded city like ours, where our natural forests have been decimated to make way for greedy developers, we have to rely on pictures like yours to remember the beauty of God's natural world.

  17. what a lovely and peaceful garden place. I would think that would be hard to leave-but they will probably start over once back in Italy.
were you able to come away with anything? It seems most of the large pots would be nice to leave in the garden for the next person

  18. What a garden. Simplicity in things like urns on top of low walls, or boxwood balls atop the walls -- I love the serene feel of this garden as much as its beautiful look
