the start of fall in our home

I'm somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to seasonal decorating.  I try to use things from nature and make projects with the kids to add those special bits of the new season throughout our home!

 {I made this wreath out of honeysuckle garland, leaves and burlap}

How do you decorate for the new season?
Happy making, baking, and growing!

  1. I'm a super minimalist on seasonal decorating, too. Who needs bric-a-brac?!

  2. You have done such a great job of decorating your home. The wreath is amazing! I love your mantelpiece with the glass bottles and autumn (fall) leaves. Are they your clever masterpieces in the frames? Don't they look great how you have displayed them. Just goes to show that art doesn't always need to be hung on the walls. Happy week to you lovely lady xo

  3. Ohh I love decorating! Not ready to start on autumn yet, but now I am wreath inspired for the door so I might have to start with that at the weekend. Love all that you have done, especially the wreath!!

  4. Very pretty, simple, fall decorations - nice! I don't do much for fall decor here -- we are surrounded by sugar maples and the New England fall woodlands that blaze all afire as the season comes on. I can't compete with that!

  5. I love your wreath! I have to admit I don't do anything for fall. But I always admire others that do!

  6. Love your wreath! So simple and pretty. You mean I could make something out of all that honeysuckle that won't stop trying to take over everything?!

  7. I love your little touches of fall. I don't go all out here either and haven't put out a single thing yet. We are in the midst of a record heat wave-near 100 degrees! Just crazy, and not conducive to thinking of fall. I am even still carrying my white purse-and it is after labor day. Does that rule still apply?

  8. I am not much of a decorator, I do christmas but thats about it. Sometimes I buy a cheap bunch of flowers from the grocery store for the dining table, I keep thinking my hubby will get the hint and bring me home some but no, I end up buying my own. I love your dahlias! WOW!! amazing flower there!!

  9. I think in our down sized house to much decorating would just over take the space. I like what you have done with a little is so pretty. Love your front door!

  12. I don't do much seasonal decorating. We have a few things we put out but not much. But we all know it's transplanting season because my gardening stuff invades the house again and I track in more dirt. :o)

  15. So pretty, I really love the wreath! I am really not much of a seasonal decorator, I like to have a few things but mostly it is pretty simple here, if anything, I have done more because of blogging lately, but still not much!

  16. I definitely bring in fall leaves and branches when the time comes, but beyond that, not too much. This year, especially, since I feel like everything is a disaster zone with the kitchen mess, I'm not in a hurry to do much of anything in the decorating department.

Your shelf is soooo pretty. Love the blue glass and framed art.

  17. I don't think us Brits do that much seasonal decorating do we? The flowers on the kitchen table are a reminder to me what season it is, they change with the seasons and currently we have Phlox in a big jug. I am tempted though by your autumn wreath. Jo x

  21. I'm decorating for fall on the first day of fall. It is still summer here. I like that your decor isn't over the top. The aquas and oranges are gorgeous together and the teapot is the perfect autumn accent!! Hope you are having a good day!!

  22. Minimalist is good... something I am still learning to embrace. I do love that you achieved your goal of the fall look with so little... now I am thinking how I can go about that as well... fall is right around the corner now... sheesh, where did summer go?

  25. Hi Nicole, I love seasonal decoration, but I am not ready to let the summer go already. Officially we still have summer until the 21st of September. Until then I will not start fall decoration. I don't like the color orange in my own home much, so orange pumpkins are out, but I will get white miniature pumpkins, which I love very much.

  26. I like to do little touches as well-wreath on the door and update the planters once the annuals perish. I really like the door wreath you made. Have a great weekend Nicole!

  27. Your simple touches are perfect! I especially like the orange branches and copper pot!

  28. The turquoise with the orange on the mantel is a beautiful combination.

I used to go all out for Halloween and have a lot of decorations in the attic, but I am liking the idea of little embellishments to what is already in place. I bought dried flowers in browns/tan/red to use in the living room, but haven't set them out yet.
