We are throwing one birthday party for all three beans this fall. Their birthdays happen to all land around the same time and for now they enjoy it! No surprise that the theme this year is a "Garden Party." In an effort to stay on track with getting ready for their special day, I have begun making some decorations. I have really been inspired by my pal Carol from the fantastic blog
Art and Sand. Her goal for the month of August is to "use what she has." I'm challenging myself to do the same for the party. Saving money and consuming less.....what a concept!
So first up are these burlap flowers. I have seen different flowers made from burlap and I happened to have some left over from a party this summer. I also grabbed some fabric scraps and buttons from my collection and here ya go..
Burlap Button Flowers! Not sure where they are going yet and I have several more to make but they were free! I will be doing little bits about the bash to try to stay ahead of schedule!
Happy Making, Baking, and Growing!
Looks like the party is going to be bright and cheerful with those lovely red flowers. Have lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI forsee flowery bunting at the party! Hope that you have fun using them whatever you decide to do with them. Very happy and cheery to look at.
ReplyDeletesuper cute! yeah I'm wondering where these beauties will go! They could appear anywhere...!
ReplyDeleteI love when you can actually use up what's around the house - I did that with quilting fabric a few years back...couldn't believe how many quilts I made from what was on hand. The party sound like's it's going to be fun, with all three celebrating at once - I can just imagine kids and giggles everywhere, in that beautiful garden of yours! The burlap button flowers are adorable...HAPPY TUESDAY, Nicole! XOXO
ReplyDeletePerfect little flowers. Looking forward to other little projects. I love making something out of nothing - gives me such joy. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Jo x
ReplyDeleteOMGosh how darn cute! I love them and I am absolutely drooling over that coral/red-ish fabric with the white leaves. Speaking of using what we have, which in my case is almost shameful - I said almost! LOL! Anyway, I ran across a blog yesterday called http://hettiebrown.blogspot.co.uk/ and she is all about recycling, upcycling and has lots of other blogger's links who are into being more thrifty... you should take a peek. I liked her so much I put her little button on my blog (oh by the way, all the extra goodies are now at the bottom of my blog so I have the most space for gigantic photos to dazzle everyone with, LOL!)
ReplyDeleteHugs and talk soon my sweet blogging sister,
Beth P
Very cute - I like the open weave on the burlap. We did a loint 18th/21st for my stepsons. Big trip to NYC/Catskills/Philly - what's not to love about that?
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I ALWAYS had a combined birthday party growing up. Ours are only five days apart, in addition to being right before Christmas, so I'm sure the last thing my mom wanted to do was plan two parties. I think doing them all together is great - as long as they'll let ya. :)
Awe these are so sweet ;) I love figuring out how to use what I have! ;) happy early bday to your beans!

those are adorable! I miss the days when my close together birthday kids were still content sharing a party. Can't wait to see how it all comes together!
ReplyDeletemaybe you could hang them? or adorn glass jars for forks/spoons or other goodies...
ReplyDeletegreat concept to use what you have. - that constraint makes for an even more creative result! -M
I like the look of those flowers, I bet your going to have fun planing the party.
ReplyDeletewow those look fantastic! Can't wait to see how the party turns out!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I read your blog. You talked about setting the house up for a fancy New Year's Eve party for the 5 of you. I thought it was amazing all of the detail you put into a family night and I see you are doing the same for their birthdays.
ReplyDeletei can't wait to see what else you plan.
THANKS for the Shout Out!
Those are adorable! So many ways to use them, too! I love the colors. Can't wait to see what you decide. Good concept to use what you have and be creative, too. So fun! Hugs xo
ReplyDeleteI know the party will be a great success. Can't wait to see all you make and do! You will also enjoy remembering all those other projects you originally made from those scraps. I always to! I'm also giving myself the "use what you have" challenge in setting up a craft area in my basement. It's going well and I'll try to put up some pictures soon. I'm sure it won't be as pretty as your party pictures, though! Have fun!!
DeleteUsing what you have sounds like a great challenge. I really like the concept. Your party decorations are off to a good start and I can't wait to see what you do with the flowers. I like the final sentiment expressed: " Happy Making, Baking, and Growing!" I wonder if that might be a great way to always sign off your posts- an additional signature of sorts.
ReplyDeleteI just love the flowers! And, yeah, using what you have … it's a powerful experience with many potential lessons. And it seems to be a theme, a verve, I'm seeing lots of places lately. And it gladdens my heart.
ReplyDeleteMerry creating!
Your flowers turned out soo cute! Tons of possibilities! Sounds like a fun party :)
