Refinishing and sealing an old crayon drawn cabinet to use for my gardening supplies on the back patio....
Watching the budget by splitting and planting grasses in pots for the patio...
Admiring a couple quick combos while on a walk...
Catmint and Knockout Roses
lime green Coral Bells paired with Hostas and Phlox
A sweet little front yard garden...
And the beans first music festival to see this guy...
their talented Uncle John
The fresh air combined with amazing folks and great music made for a perfect day.
Dancing, skipping, and singing are all you need sometimes to make life super sweet! Ha..and a little less rain!
Hope it is lovely where you are!
Hope it is lovely where you are!
Hoping the rain is kind to you and your new walls. Love the cabinet you are using for your gardening tools. Do you think that cushion on the bench in that lovely yard gets whisked inside whenever it rains??? Have a great weekend Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteI would love to sit on the bench in that lovely front yard and read a book!
ReplyDeleteLove it Nicole! Sometimes the random posts are my favorite ones :) Good luck with the rain, we have had it for about a week, with one day of sun, so I hear ya! XO ~Bre
ReplyDeleteAh, springtime rains. The gardens to love it and they make the Medicine of sunny days more potent.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes ~ dancing, skipping, and singing do make life super sweet!
Your little beans are perfection!

We're into our second day of sunshine, but they're calling for a wet weekend :( Nothing like seeping water to keep you on your toes and spoil a gentle spring shower for you. Looks like you had a nice sunny day out to see your brother playing! And you live in a beautiful neighbourhood with all these mature trees and gorgeous front gardens. How nice to be able to see all that on a morning walk! Thanks for sharing your random thoughts and photos ... have a happy weekend :) Wendy
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks beautiful! And what fun to go to a music festival. We've had monsoon rains here in west TN, too -- 3-4-5 inches at a time, interspersed with 5 or 6 days of heat and sun and then when you break down and break out the sprinklers - another monsoon (after you water of course and have forgotten to turn off the sprinklers and go off to the library and the grocery and hobby lobby).
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this, Nicole! Beautiful family! I hope the rain gives up soon! xo
ReplyDeleteI would be watching that sump pump like mad too! Your cabinet looks gorgeous and so do your potted grasses! That's a great idea! Hope Uncle John had a great show and the beans had fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the rain is making you nervous. We are back on the prairies for a couple of weeks and it is raining hard. Very unusual for this area. Makes me wonder what other changes are ahead of us, environmentally speaking.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of the music festival. Pretty dresses your girls were wearing. Did you make them?
Pretty great randomness, I would say...water's good for the garden, at least - I hope it doesn't get too bad for you!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet the Beans LOVED your brother - what a fun day out! Happy Weekend, Nicole - XOXO Tanya
I wish some of that rain would mozy on over here. It's been promising rain for a few days now but we've had so little of it. Perhaps today will be rainy?? Looking lovely in your neck of the woods. Love the catmint and pink roses together. Always such a pretty combo x
ReplyDeleteI hope as I write this that the rain has stopped falling. You may never see rain the same way again after what happened! When does it stop with the storms there? I love how you color coordinated yourself and the kids. It is seriously cute and the dresses are adorable. And your neighborhood is gorgeous ~ there is a lot of home pride there. Have a great weekend, friend!!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are great, Nicole. It looks like you had a lot of fun before the rains started in. I hope you can get into that yard and garden soon. On a sad note, I've been watching TV and the tornadoes that are going on in OK again. Those poor folks are having a terrible time out there. I heard a woman and her baby were killed as I was watching. How very sad. They need our prayers.
ReplyDeleteI love your shady nook with a comfortable bench surrounded by greenery. And splitting grasses for containers is a very good idea. I should do some of the same, but I won't be able to restrain myself from buying lots of summer annuals (an an unaffordable cost) instead. Your kids are very cute as usual.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! It looks so green and lovely! I really miss green like that. Green just doesn't happen like that where I am.
ReplyDeleteLots of rain here, too. Everything is soggy. Love your garden cupboard! And your garden! The catnip and roses are very pretty together. Your family photos are just too precious. Hug those sweet beans extra for me! How fun to see their uncle perform. Hope you get some sunshine soon! xx
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful and serene garden. I am glad to hear you have new walls installed and I totally understand about watching the sump pump.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very beautiful family. :)
It looks like you have had a busy and fun week, hope it spots raining soon.
ReplyDeleteI really like your patio area! Great pic of you and the beans, too cute! I remember after we got flooded, being so nervous everytime it rained hard. I hope this crazy weather straightens out. I STILL don't have my garden planted! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe kids stole the show in this post. Love that small chest, great garden idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the random visit with the family.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that it is raining. Usually we have "May gray" which flows into "June gloom", but we are having spectacular weather. I love that, but our change seems to mean that there are changes all about the world and so many people are having peculiarly bad weather patterns.
I hope you rain eases and you can be back in the garden with the Beans.
Fun to see pictures of the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteThat front yard is super cute.
Hoping for some dry weather in your neck of the woods. We're supposed to get a break from the rain this weekend. I'm thinkin' we deserve it after an insurance week from hell.
Aww, they say to never stop hoping for rain, our planet is in desperate need, so let's just hope it moves away from you block! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow's that! The festival looked fun and Uncle John is very talented I have seen the videos!! It is very hot here and time to jump in the pool, have a great weekend!!
Looks like you're fitting in some great stuff in between showers...hope the rain stops for you soon!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you can have too much of a good thing! Splitting the grasses was smart. Why pay for something when you can get it for free? Love your cabinet. I'd probably knock it over. I'm a klutz! ;o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gardens, beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteI have sent you an email regarding your prize for entering my giveaway.
Have a great week.

What gorgeous gardens and love your chest...perfect and the bench in the front yard is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful garden has definitely been an inspiration to me. I have recently purchased several pot flower plants. Of course, putting them into the earth is wishful thinking right now! I am nowhere near as skilled as you! Let me see if my flowers survive the pot, and I may upgrade. :)
ReplyDeleteThat cabinet looks AWESOME!!! I love it! You did an amazing job! And your garden looks so pretty! I can just imagine you love sitting in the front garden in the evenings! I know I would!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to one of those outdoor music concerts since we moved here to Missouri-I always enjoyed those-love that big wooden chair in the garden
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look great! I am so with you on the rain. When I woke up this morning and it was so gray, I was so aggravated. However, the sun is shining brightly now and it feels SOOOOOO good!
ReplyDeleteLove the style of the cabinet doors! :)

What a lovely post--glad you got to enjoy some pretty gardens, and take in some music!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post Nicole. Love the pics of the yards and your sweet kiddos. You always sound like they bring you such joy. I often feel like I missed my daughter's childhood and wished I had been a better mother. But being a single mom and working full time only left so much time. Unfortunately I spent so much time trying to keep up with my house and yard (obviously some things never change) that I missed so much time just playing with her. At least now that she is 24, we are best friends and I love that she loves to be with me. In fact, she is moving home again and we're very much looking forward to it. My Mom was always my best friend and now my daughter is mine, which means I must have done something right. Love your kids and give them all the time you can. Too soon they fly away (and often come back).

So fun! Glad to see you're enjoying your joys of gardening and your children. Looks like they are enjoying it too!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so sweet Nicole! Days like the one at the music festival are what perfect summer memories are made of.
ReplyDeleteWe have had lots of rain too. The gently flowing river across the street had white caps this morning! Our sump pumps run 24 hrs a day to keep the high water table at bay. Hope your basement stays dry!
Please come to our house and make our yard look like yours. :) Music festivals, family and fresh air sound most awesome.
