Oh the joys of spring! My list of loves for the season are a mile long. Garden digging, plants sprouting, and new adventures beginning! The theme for Floral Fridays this month is all about blooms that "made me smile." Looking back at blooms for this post brought me pure excitement of what is to come!
Though the beans do thoroughly enjoy pulling petals off of our flowers to use as confetti, they also like to collect blooms for bouquets. And their bouquets are the best! Innocently put together with their own reasons in mind. I just wish I had photographed more of their creations. A new year a new goal! Peonies and hydrangeas are blooms that they like to cut because in their words, they are "BIG"!
{some blooms arranged by the beans}
So blooms that make me smile are the ones that I find on our table.
Made by little hands, stuck in different cups or jars, water splattered everywhere, dirt and bugs, sticks, leaves, flowers, and JOY.
Floral Fridays is a monthly photography project with different themes each month. This series is about fun and taking time out to smell the flowers. To play along, please email Trishie (trishie@underlockandkeyblog.com) for next month's theme.
I do hope you will join in with your special blooms!
Happy weekend everyone!
Nicole, What a beautiful, beautiful post. Your daughter's eyes are amazingly blue. We only have 2 blue-eyed grandkids- they both have my father's eyes...and I so love blue eyes. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWell, your post today surely made me smile. Just what we all needed to see, flowers and sunshine!

Your little girl is so so pretty! That picture of her just made me smile big time. I love that your beans pick you flowers, there is just so much sweetness in that! I hope when Alexander is bigger, he'll pick me some flowers too.
ReplyDeletePS: I am so envious that you have peonies growing in your own garden, they're one of my favourite blooms.
I hope you take more photos of their bouquets. I remember a set of photos of wildflowers my kids picked. My daughter's bouquet was so pretty and perfect and my son's bouquet was a big fist full of flowers that he was so proud of. It still makes me laugh. I can't wait to see what grows in your garden this year! Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, such beautiful photos. So cute! And you're right, those are the best kinds of flowers and bouquets. I also love peonies and hydrangea blooms... because they are BIG. :D I hope you are having a beautiful week and soon, a wonderful weekend. Blessings, Bird
ReplyDeleteTotally love the shot of the peony and the gorgeous little lady that is attached to it. She is just lovely! Can't wait until spring, and hopefully it will be coming really soon!

DeleteLovely photographs, I remember those days well I might point out to my teenagers that they used to pick flowers from the garden!! I will be encouraging them to do the same later on in the year when I have some to pick. Their bunches should prove interesting! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour blooms are just delightful! Our garden is so full of vegetables and I've been dreaming of planting a few blooms here and there. Your home grown bouquets have inspired me to get starting on that!
ReplyDeleteSophie xo
Peonies and hydrangeas are some of my favourites too! I have never grown peonies though, are they hard to care for?
ReplyDeleteI look forward to watching your spring photo collection as I rug up for the cooler months of Autumn….and winter Brrrr
Happy weekend Nicole x
I would love to grow Peonies are the hard? I love it when the little ones pice flowers, they are given with such love.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness I love those peonies and hydrangeas - so so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely, I'm always happy when my little people get involved with the garden and the allotment, in pretty much any way (except when they break my pots with their footballs). I love that they pick the flowers and eat the peas and berries straight from the plants. Of such are memories made. This is such an exciting time for gardeners, all the anticipation and high hopes. I have seeds growing! Blossom about to open! Plans, plans, plans.
ReplyDeleteIndeed the most beautiful bouquets are of our children, your daughter looks so sweet with her BIG peonie. And I could not help laughing your beans pulling out petals for confetti, great.
ReplyDeleteWish you together a wonderful sunny weekend!
so beautiful. i love peonies for the soft fluffiness. i can't wait for spring for all the blooms and greens!
ReplyDeleteyou've got to love a flower that's nearly as big as your head - I think that's an excellent criteria for bouquet selection x
ReplyDeleteYour floral photos made my heart sing! I'm so ready for spring to get here with all her beautiful colors! Your daughter's photo is precious.
ReplyDeleteTruelly stunning photos :))
ReplyDeleteomg is it spring yet? LOL - I have a friend visiting Hungary right now, and she just wrote me of a winter banishing ceremony done there every year this time of year and I'm thinking we need to get on that in North America! Something like this floral blog post ought to the trick ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole. I love your photos. They are a breath of Spring. The Peony's beauty pales in comparison to your precious little Bean! We are starting to see the ground but no where near a "real" Spring. It seems that all the bloggers I read are as hungry to get out in the gardens as I am! It's nice to have company! XO
ReplyDeleteWOW! Those peonies(is that right?) are absolutely stunning, the colour and the look of them. I am useless at gardening so I adore seeing other peoples gorgeous photos. You have made my friday x
ReplyDeleteso beautiful-I think when spring blooms finally arrive we will appreciate them even more this year after such a difficult winter-
ReplyDeleteAll your blooms are gorgeous! It must be such a joy watching your beans enjoy the flowers in your garden and it's easy to see why you would think their sweet bouquets are the best! Happy weekend Nicole!

You are one of the gardeners I would love to be. I decided last year to change our yard and will post about it this year. I have not given up, but I am being realistic.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to the gardening season starting - you had some lovely blooms and a garden should be all about smiles and happiness - I am returning from my holidays tomorrow and hope to begin my seed sowing ASAP.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! Especially love the one with your little bean. Such innocence and sweetness.

Hi Nicole,
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your beautiful blooms and the reward and pleasure of working hard in your garden.
The peonies are so gorgeous and you are lucky you can grow them.
Happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn
I don't know which bean is offering up the flower, but she is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are teaching the beans a love of flowers.
"Made by little hands, stuck in different cups or jars, water splattered everywhere, dirt and bugs, sticks, leaves, flowers, and JOY." I love that sentence and all that it means Nicole!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Made me smile, too. I also love hydrangeas because of their big blooms (never seen a peony bloom here!). I can remember picking flowers out of my great-grandmother's yard. You are creating memories that will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I think it's wonderful to include children in every stage of the gardening experience. There's so much to learn and it's lots of fun too.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink of that first flower. It really pops!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms! Your daughter has beautiful eyes that go well with her shirt and the lovely peony bloom! I love bouquets picked by little hands!! Flowers in the yard provides such a gift for them to share freely with those they love!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous post, Nicole! The flowers are gorgeous, especially the peonies and hydrangeas. They are my favorites, too! The fragrance of the peony is intoxicating. I must tell you that the most beautiful flower in your garden is your bean!
ReplyDeleteI love bouquets as well.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are yummy! And little kid nosegays are adorable and sweet and just heartbreaking. Love!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely - this totally makes my heart smile. And start the countdown for Spring.

Your flowers are beautiful, what are the ones in the third photo down, they are amazing and almost look like paper flowers. My youngest likes to pull my flowers apart for confetti too, drives me mad! Andy hydrangeas are my favourites, instant bouquet in a jar xo
ReplyDeleteHey you! Those are peonies...nothing like kids having fun with their confetti! Super day to u
DeleteSo much gorgeous pink, can't get enough of your gorgeous blooms xx
ReplyDeleteFlowers are so beautiful. What joy they bring. Enjoy your spring.
ReplyDeleteWow, how stunning! The colours are so beautiful - what a splendid reward for planting and tending them. Thanks for your lovely pictures - I agree with Carrie, I could look at more and more of these beauties xxx
ReplyDeleteWe've had amazing hydrangeas this year - love them! And those peonies are gorgeous :) Oh the joy of little ones and flowers - brings a smile to my face xx
ReplyDeleteThese must be from last year, you can't possibly have flowers already!
ReplyDeletePeonies are wonderful flowers for kids ... now that the snow is melting I'm getting more impatient for spring.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of your little girl is so lovely!! I loved picking flowers as a child, and still do :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!

Our first crocus' just bloomed - oh the joy! Such bright and vibrant colors you chose! LOVE the pop of spring.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots of blooms that make you smile! But that photo of your little bean says it all!! What a great smile and sparkling eyes she has with that BIG bloom in her hand ... LOVE it!! Enjoy your day Nicole ... and we're expecting that snow tonight/tomorrow too :) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteWow...those flowers are absolutely gorgeous. Brings me hope that spring will actually arrive here in the northeast. The mountain of snow and ice is melting very slowly. Soon...very soon! Nice post Nicole!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my last post, meant a lot when I was having such a miserable day xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Nicole! I love, love, love those peonies. Must get some into my garden. And is that a mauve dahlia you have growing? It looks just like the one I have:) You're loving the spring and I'm loving the autumn - my fave time of year. Bring on the cooler weather for Australia!!! Enjoy your flowery weekend:) x
ReplyDeleteI love seeing a garden through a child's eyes. They see it so differently than we do. I love their bouquets, too. They are more pure than any we create because they don't focus on the whole but the beauty of each flower with no thought to what it's 'supposed' to look like.
