On to corners. Corners of rooms are tricky. Take ours for example. It sat like this for over a year.
This corner is in our main floor living room. The color is Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter. |
An unused space just collecting dust. The thing is, when you have a small house every space has to function. Our needs for this corner are large! We need extra seating for parties, a place for the kids to play games and do homework, and a cozy spot for mom to read!
I'm not done styling up the bookcase and I'm still waiting on a library floor lamp but here's what we have so far......
The bookcase! See black would so not have worked here!
my art finds-you can read about it here
With a little bit of elbow grease I was able to get the look I was after. Hmmm what's next?!?!

ReplyDeleteNicole,
ReplyDeleteYou did good. Do you mind sharing the color you used on the bookcase?
Diane
For sure!!! I used Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze...and Annie Sloan dark wax
DeleteOmg I loooove the color of the bookcase!!! I am going to have to pop by someday and see it in person and how you did it..
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! The entire corner is just beautiful. Love the bronze color - and what a difference the wax made!

The corner looks awesome! I love the finish...I have never used wax but I LOVE what it does. I must try it. I am following you back!
ReplyDeleteYour bookcase looks beautiful, Nicole--well done! I also really like the fabric on your chairs--lovely colors. You are right--corners are tricky, but you've done a nice job with yours. Nice to hear from you, and I am enjoying the camera very much. I got a Nikon D3000 used for $300 on ebay, and that was a good price, and so far I am really enjoying it. It's definitely a big step up in resolution from my little point and click camera. I have not started using it in manual mode--it's all I can do at this point to figure out how everything works in automatic mode, but I'll get there eventually.
ReplyDeleteI love this!! I want to use Revere Pewter in our living room, entry way and hallways. And your bookcase is awesome, especially the color and the x's. I've seen the color before on other blogs and I may have to try it too. Again, looks great!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bookcase and how you styled it. Now following...would love to have you check out what I did the bookcase I just found - www.decoratevintage.blogspot.com. I'm going to use your idea and put a table/chairs in front for a little homework nook!
ReplyDeleteYour corner turned out nice. Doing these odd spaces from a planning standpoint is not always easy either.
ReplyDeleteGreat transformation! I love the color of the shelves! I just started a new link party and would love if you would come on over and share your post or social media sites. http://designeddecor.com/talkin-about-thursday-3/
