It has been cold here in Chicago. And when I say cold I mean COLD! With the holidays in front of us here are some of this seasons doings...
~Christmas touches have been added around the house....I got these great brass candlesticks from this Etsy Shop
~I've been picking up evergreen branches from around the neighborhood to use for my winter planters (more on that in another post)
~Planning out this years Advent calendar activities
~Prepping for Thanksgiving. I'll definitely be setting these up for the kids' table this year....
and making these for dessert...
~Working on Christmas lists and Christmas cards....
What are you working on for the season?
Have a wonderful weekend friends!
You're so well-prepared already! I love your Christmas decorations. I think we'll put up our tree over Thanksgiving weekend, as we always do, and I'm so excited already. I really like those apple turkeys. I remember making them in school when I was little. Your beans will enjoy them a lot. I hope you have a great weekend, Nicole. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's nice. Looks cosy on your coach !
ReplyDeleteThe apple pie bars look delicious, and I love that last photo!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics Nicole and I love your candlesticks....good buy xxx
ReplyDeleteWell I sure don't have any Christmas decorations up yet! Look at you all festive and fun :) Great shots of your decorations, but I can't believe you have your tree up already!! Love the last shot of your three kids ... are you using that for your Christmas cards? Enjoy the cold and snow!! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteThese pics totally made me smile especially the last one of your adorable beans. Could they be any cuter all bundled up :D And it sure looks like you're getting into the spirit of the holidays in your house. It's crazy how cold it turned this week all over the US. I didn't miss my down coat but it's back. I'm prepping to wrap a bunch of dumplings over the weekend. It's like comfort food for us during the winter and the weather is too crappy to go out. Stay warm and have a wonderful weekend Nicole!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to pull out the Christmas decorations, but I will do it soon. Those apple pie bars look yummy. Love the kids table turkey. Have a wonderful weekend Nicole!
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is so sweet! Everything looks festive and cheerful. Those apple pie bars look good! God bless your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe beans are so cute. I love how you are decorating and the apple bar cookies look good.
ReplyDeleteGoodness you are so organised! I'm thinking about Christmas but that's about as far as I've got!
ReplyDeleteWe will pull out our Christmas after Thanksgiving...I love all your decor! The new pieces you got are awesome, and from reading your last post slowing down is always good, there is good and bad about technology, we need to embrace the good in all things I guess! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Nicole!
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I thought your littlest bean had had a growth spurt. I'm going to make those apple bars, only wish I could snuggle up on your cosy sofa while I eat them.
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks so cozy with all of the throws on the couch and chairs. I just got mine out to scatter around the house. I need to find my stash of pinecones that I have been collecting. You sure put me in the mood for decorating! Love the bean pic! Oh my are they getting big! Have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm! Liz
ReplyDeleteYour sweet touches of Christmas are making me eager to pull out my Christmas decor. I told myself I would wait until after Thanksgiving, but I'm having such a hard time. . . And with the snow that is arriving tomorrow it's the perfect time to decorate :) But I can wait, at lease I think I can. . . :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, Nicole! Enjoy your weekend!
Oh, apple pie bars - what a great concept. You're home looks very cozy and warm. We don't do much for the holidays now that the kids are out of the house. I keep meaning to send holiday cards, but we never seem to get to it.

ReplyDeleteAw how I love that last photo! Your beans are just beautiful, and they look especially adorable all rugged up in their winter gear :-) It's hot and summery here tonight....feels like rain, although I don't think we'll get any. Your home looks so lovely and snug, hope you're keeping warm xx
ReplyDeleteI am not so organised as you and don't usually start thinking about Christmas till the week before. You have added some lovely touches to your home and it is all looking very festive. Have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteLovely festive touches already! I will gleefully be flinging the decs around here on the 1st, I cant wait! I adore the photo of your little beans, is that your choice of Christmas card? If so it's a lovely choice.
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized!!! I host Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday after so won't be doing any Christmas prep until Dec. 1st. You've incorporated your new finds beautifully in your décor! That folk art plate goes great with those colored baubles! I love how your mantel is decorated with brass color and evergreens, too. I'm also loving the Advent bags!! I've been busy making Advent calendars for our families, a bigger project than I thought!! but will have them done today and ready to give at Thanksgiving. I'll be interested to see what you do with yours. Stay warm, my friend! Happy Thanksgiving!!

ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! Is that a Grandma Moses in the first photo? Looks like her. My sweet husband and I went to the Bennington Museum today. They have the largest collection of Grandma Moses in the country. It was wonderful. Visited Bennington Pottery as well. Love all your decorations. The apple turkey appetizer display is terrific--I may be borrowing that, and I pinned the apple pie bars for later.
ReplyDeleteHope your Thanksgiving is blessed :)
Diana

OHHHHHH - YOU KILL ME WITH THOSE SHOTS OF THE BEANS, EVERY TIME! Have been working on Christmas gift giving, and neglecting blog time, sadly. Heading off for Thanksgiving back home (first time in 20+ years), but back soon. Love that you've already got a handle on all things Christmas, girl...the little turkey with the fruit and cheese ROCKS. I miss the little ones at the holidays! XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteComing to your blog after a long time :-). Though I am yet to be back in my own blog but visiting others' blog now. Such lovely decorations and things -- I'm getting into festival mood :-). By the way my blog address has changed from beautiful boonton to http://world-and-novice-naturalist.blogspot.com/

Your decorations are looking fab, I'm putting mine up on Saturday, I'm sooo looking forward to it! Happy Thanksgiving lovely, I hope you have a fabulous holiday season! xxx
ReplyDeleteLoving your seasonal touches. Happy Thanksgiving too lovely! I've been playing my Christmas CD's and pulling out all my Christmas decorations. Tomorrow we are going to pick our Christmas tree from our neighbours farm. Beside my self with all the festivities. Sunday I will be baking Fruit cakes. I have to go big with Christmas because it is stinking hot here so I have to try that little bit harder to make it feel like Christmas. Stay warm! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteNicole, your home is so beautiful! Everything is looks absolutely perfect. Even the shed! Your children are so precious and the picture is simply adorable! I think the pillow on your couch with the sleigh and reindeer is so pretty. I have a stencil that is similar to the silhouette on the pillow and I have been thinking I need to find it in my hoard of craft supplies. I have been thinking it would be perfect for an long pillow like yours and I need to get busy with it! Wishing you the sweetest and most blessed Christmas ever, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking very pretty with all your lovely decorations, but it dose look cold.
