We wrapped up construction from the flood and have begun getting everything in from the garage. With chaos comes the opportunity for change and with change a freshness emerges. As I've been attempting to organize (you know the old saying...trying to clean with kids is like trying to shovel when it's still snowing!) I started to notice a little theme throughout our home.
Orange!
As I age, I'm really understanding what I'm drawn to in life and design. Orange is turning out to be one of those accent colors that makes me happy!
What colors do you use in your space? I hope the week is off to a wonderful beginning for everyone! Check back later this week for a fun giveaway!!!
Ahh! My husband's favorite color is orange! I too like it as an accent color, I just haven't used it yet, maybe in the new office we are doing....
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful Nicole and I love the orange accents. Blue has always and still does make me happy. I was never a pink girl when little, so blue has always been around me. I'm drooling over your blue mat in the first pic! xo
ReplyDeleteOrange is such a cool color! Right now, my accent color is blue, which is really quite blah. I am hoping to add some more earthy browns, yellows and oranges, which matches my pottery. Your house looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI never had orange anywhere until this house and the baby's nursery. I like it! Although I like red, too, which can make things tricky. Love all your little orange splashes :)
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with orange!! And I too am finding my "colors" in design as I get older lol! Also looooove your countertops what are they? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe pop of orange looks great Nicole! When we recently styled our house for selling we used lime green against all our white.
ReplyDeleteOrange was my all-time favourite colour ... when I was a kid! Then I turned to green, but I'm getting tired of green. My new favourite is blue. Your house looks so serene and clutter free. The orange accents really do pop against your neutral tones :) Have a great week Nicole! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteI LOVE orange. I tend to decorate in chocolate brown/red, chocolate brown/turquoise, chocolate brown/yellow. You get the idea :)
ReplyDeleteI love orange, too, but after spending all day in a very bright (yellow, purple, red, etc) classroom, I come home to a very calming palette of green, gold, brown, and cream with bits of red. It's very nest-like. :o) Your house is fabulous! My decorating theme when my kids were little was Lego, Barbie, and Little Tykes. :o)
ReplyDeleteI have been using orange accents around my house too! Even in my flower choices this summer. The house looks great! I bet you are glad to have things back in their place again.
ReplyDeleteLove those pops of color!
ReplyDeleteA few years ago we were at the Ikea store and I saw the most gorgeous orange lampshade (in kind a brushed velvet) and just had to buy it. I ended up buying the tall floor lamp base with it too. I just love it. It makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteYour home is just beautiful btw!
I love it! You have such a pretty house!
ReplyDeleteGlad that your reno is over! YAY!
I'm loving the orange and your orange pouf is lovely :)
I like orange too, though don't have much of it yet as I haven't updated my decor a whole lot since my tastes have changed.
xoxo have a great week lovely!
Nicole - these pops of colour are gorgeous!! I find I keep subconsciously adding flashes of purple in the garden - I think that is my version!
ReplyDeleteSuch a bright happy colour, we seem to have a lot of green.
ReplyDeleteI like your pops of orange. I want to paint one wall in our bedroom soft orange (not neon) and add a quilt with orange patterns. Can't get my husband on board with that. Your accents are a soft coral-like color -- nice!
ReplyDeleteI love orange, too! It's one of the few "warm" colors that truly makes me happy. Otherwise, I'm totally a cool/neutral color person. My new living room has orange as a prominent accent color, too! I am in LOVE with that orange ottoman/pouf thing, BTW! ;) Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Orange is definitely a happy color. So exciting that you're movin' stuff back in!
ReplyDeleteHave you done a kitchen post? I need to see more of it asap. :)
Your home is beautiful! I love the simple lines and colors. Your floors are amazing! I think I am jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over the mat too. I find my colour preferences change every now and then. My new colours are robin's egg blue, and pale, almost transluscent greens. It must be so nice to have your home back together. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOrange is definitely cheerful, although I am drawn to blue.
ReplyDeleteOrange is a perfect color to bring a touch of happiness! It looks very nice with your furnishings, too! I really like the effect. I am drawn to blues and greens in the summer and golds and reds in the fall and winter. I guess it depends on the seasons! Orange can fit all seasons! xo
ReplyDeleteOrange is definitely one of my favourite colours - it was the accent colour in our wedding. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI love orange, too. Your home looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love the pops of orange in your spaces! But I'm a girl that loves color! ;) I am really liking turquoise, teal and coral right now...the more the better, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are getting things back in order!! Know that is a great feeling.:)

Oh I could not do orange, but I do notice I am using red more often, and I hated the color red for years! How odd the way we change in the later years. I remember my mom loved sour cream and would eat it with a spoon, as a kid it grossed me out, but now I buy it every week and love to top off tacos or veggies or anything with a big scoop of sour cream! hahahahaha!! I am starting to love more veggies too, I even ate brussel sprouts this weekend, but I will never eat lima beans! That is a story for another day.....
ReplyDeleteOrange is definitely my color too! lovely inspiration here!
ReplyDeleteWhat colors don't I like?...well maybe peach, but I love orange. Green seems to be the color that I find hard to resist. I am forever buying green things. Green is just so darn fresh.
ReplyDeleteI use every color.
ReplyDeleteI had a basket on a shelf with the exact child's toy in it. Now I just get it out when people with children visit and they love it.
Glad to know that your house is back to normal and I will store that orange accent about you in my memory bank.
Your home is gorgeous, Nicole--I love the dark chocolate brown with the light blue and then the little pops of orange!
ReplyDeleteSuch a refreshing colour and a lovely accent.
ReplyDeleteNina x
wherever did you get that ottman??? cool
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice.:-) Stina
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful shade of red-orange. I tend to weave teal throughout the apartment currently, although I actually have a crazy love of goldenrod. There's nothing quite like yellow and grey...
ReplyDeleteYou are rocking the orange, girl! Loving the poof, especially :) xoLaura
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, orange is such a cheerful accent color. Love it in your home! I also find that the older I get the more distinguished my taste has become, I know clearly what I what color I want in the house and in the garden. In my home you see lots and lots of shades of white and I use blue in some rooms as an accent color. There is a lot of blue in the garden as well and I am working on bringing in more white.
ReplyDeleteChristina
I love orange! I'm jealous of your beautiful kitchen. Everything looks so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, k's favorite color is orange. It can be such a fun color to decorate with. It is a happy color. :D
ReplyDeleteNicole when are you going to do the "grand tour" or your home? It look amazing :) The pops of oranage are just fabulous... I'm drawn to yellow. All. The. Time. Must by my heart aching for some sunshine! :) Hazel x
